Exploring DIY Projects For Your Wedding

3 Kinds Of Wedding Dress Silhouettes

When you are getting ready to get married, there are a lot of things that you need to get. One of them is the perfect wedding dress. Going out shopping for your wedding dress may seem daunting with all the various choices out there, but if you know what kind of silhouettes are out there, you can start to narrow down what style you like as well as what you think might look good on you.

A-Line

The A-line dress basically looks like a huge capital A. The dress is narrow at the neckline and then gradually widens out as it goes down. Generally, the bodice is fitted, forming the point of the A, and the skirt then flows down, usually in an unbroken line. It's a simple, classic, and elegant look that suits just about anyone. The seamstress who does the alterations for you can help the dress drape to hide or accentuate different parts of your body, if you want.

Ballgown

The ballgown silhouette is generally what people think of when they think of the princess dress. It has a fitted bodice and a full skirt that starts right at the end of the bodice. The skirt can be made up of several layers of one material, like many layers of tulle, or several layers of more than one material, such as layers of tulle and satin. Another way to get that same full skirt is to wear a crinoline under the dress. A crinoline is designed to go under the dress and has materials in it that will make it fluff out, leaving whatever gets worn over it nice and full.

Column

A column dress can also be called a sheath. It is generally a straight line from the neckline to the hemline, with just a tiny flare at the hem to make it easier to walk. There may be a belt or ribbon at the waistline just to give it a little bit of definition, but not always. The fit tends to be pretty close to the body, and the dress is often made out of floaty-type materials like chiffon, which can give it a great romantic type of feel.

If you are trying to find your wedding dress, keep in mind that there are all kinds of dresses, styles, materials, and even colors out there.
